| 1998 | The league was renamed the K-LEAGUE. |
| 2003 | Daegu FC and Gwangju Sangmu Bulsajo joined the league. |
| 2004 | Incheon UNITED FC joined the league. |
| 2006 | Gyeongnam FC joined the league. (At present, the league is consisted of 14 clubs.) |
